A Wedding Pianist on the Amalfi Coast
Playing Piano at the Belmond Hotel Caruso, Ravello, Italy
There are some moments in life that stay with you forever.
For me, one of those moments came on May 27, 2025, as I sat at a grand piano overlooking the Amalfi Coast at the breathtaking Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello, Italy.
What began with a simple Instagram message became one of the most special performances of my piano career.
How It All Began
On November 6, 2024, I received a message on Instagram from a bride-to-be in Florida asking whether I would be interested in flying to Italy to perform piano for her Amalfi Coast wedding.
Naturally, I was intrigued.
I soon scheduled a Zoom call with Bailey and we spent close to 45 minutes discussing the vision for the wedding day, the atmosphere she wanted to create, her and Trey’s music preferences, and the overall feeling she hoped guests would experience.
The wedding was to be an intimate celebration of around 35 guests, primarily close family members, held at the stunning Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello.
Bailey described the wedding aesthetic as:
whimsical garden party
classic elegance
warm colours with splashes of orange and pink
Musically, Bailey and Trey loved artists such as Michael Bublé and Norah Jones, and felt a solo piano performance would suit the intimacy and elegance of the evening perfectly.
A week after sending through my proposal, I received the email:
“IT’S A YES!”
And just like that, the journey began.
Preparing the Music
In the months leading up to the wedding, I carefully curated a bespoke piano setlist inspired by Italian classics, slow jazz favourites, and timeless love songs.
The repertoire included pieces such as Sway, Everything, and Home by Michael Bublé, Come Away With Me by Norah Jones, Italian classics including Volare and Ciao Bella, and even a slowed piano rendition of What Dreams Are Made Of from The Lizzie McGuire Movie — a subtle nod to its iconic Italian setting.
Every piece was intentionally and thoughtfully selected to complement the warmth, intimacy, and candlelit atmosphere of the evening.

Arriving in Ravello
I arrived in Italy several days before the wedding to properly settle into the experience and avoid jet lag before the performance.
After spending time in Napoli, I travelled to Ravello the day before the wedding to familiarise myself with the venue and surroundings.
Ravello immediately felt magical.
Perched high above the Amalfi Coast, the town was filled with breathtaking views, historic villas, colourful florals, winding pathways, and an atmosphere unlike anywhere I had experienced before.
Sitting beneath the Italian sun with a fresh spremuta di arancia e limone in hand, it was easy to understand why couples travel from all around the world to celebrate there.
The Wedding Day
On the day of the wedding, I arrived early to rehearse, test the Young Chang grand piano, and spend time with the other suppliers and vendors involved in the celebration.
The piano itself was beautifully positioned within the terrace gardens of Belmond Hotel Caruso, framed by warm florals overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
Before dinner began, I watched Bailey and Trey exchange vows overlooking the coastline — a beautiful and deeply intimate moment.
As guests dined beneath the evening sky, I performed a curated blend of romantic classics, jazz favourites, timeless love songs, and Italian music throughout the evening.
One of the highlights of the night was welcoming Bailey and Trey into dinner with a piano rendition of That’s Amore — a moment that felt perfectly suited to the romance and atmosphere of Ravello.
The entire evening felt cinematic: warm lights, candlelit tables, music drifting through the gardens, laughter among family and friends, and the Amalfi Coast glowing in the distance.

A Performance I’ll Never Forget
Looking back one year later, this experience still feels surreal.
Performing piano at Belmond Hotel Caruso for Bailey and Trey’s wedding was not only a career highlight, but also a reminder of how powerful music can be in bringing people together from all around the world.
A heartfelt thank you to Bailey and Trey for placing their trust in me, and to The Amalfi Experience for coordinating such a beautiful wedding with warmth and professionalism.
